GENERAL INFORMATION AND TUTORIAL

System Requirement:
Internet Explorer 5.0 on either Macintosh or Windows. The catalog can be viewed with Netscape Communicator 4.7 or higher but reservation bookings cannot be made.

General Information:
The District IMC provides media materials for instructional use by Jordan School District teachers, Murray School District teachers, and approved, private school personnel.
The Instructional Media Center (IMC) is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The office is closed for holidays as listed on the Jordan School District calendar.
No telephone reservations are accepted after 4:00 p.m.
No internet reservations for next working day delivery are accepted after 4:00 p.m.
Each teacher has a confidential, patron identification number and password that is not to be shared with any other individual.
Patron identification and password numbers will not be given to teachers on the telephone. They will be distributed through school principals, e-mail, or in person with picture identification.
The maximum VIDEO/DVD checkout time is five (5) working days. Kits and project trunks are available for extended checkout periods. Please contact the IMC at 567-8138.

CATALOG INSTRUCTIONS

I. WELCOME
Click on the center button "Click Here to Begin", to enter the search screen.

II. "KEYWORD" SEARCH
To search for an item in the Instructional Media Center collection, click on the "Keyword" selection in the left panel. Proceed with the search. If assistance is needed to complete an item search in the "Keyword" mode, click "Help".

The "Help" section contains information on:
      Keyword Searching Hints

      AND Searching
      OR Searching
      NOT Searching

Note:
--Author (Does not apply to video search)
--Curriculum/Audience
      Audience Levels:
      Preschool: Kindergarten
      Primary: Grades 1 - 3
      Intermediate: Grades 4 - 6
      Junior High: Grades 7 - 9
      Senior High: Grades 10-12

III. "BROWSE" SEARCH
To search items by authors, titles, or subjects, click on the "Browse" selection in the left panel. Proceed with the search. If assistance is needed to complete an item search in the "Browse" mode, click "Help". (Note: Author search does not apply to video search.)

The "Help" section contains information on:
      Browse Authors
      Browse Titles
      Browse Subjects

IV. "SEARCH RESULTS
The information in the bottom panel corresponds with the first video on the list. To see the information on a video in the list, click on the title and the information will be displayed in the bottom panel. The display includes the following information:

Catalog Number: Required if calling in order
Title: Title of the video
Imprint: Distributor of the video
Physical Description: First number is the video length in minutes; next item indicates color or black and white
Summary: Brief summary of the video content
Curriculum/Audience: Audience level of the video
Subject: Subject assigned to the video

To select the video(s) to be ordered, click in the box to the left of the catalog number, and a check mark will indicate the selections. Next, click on the "Add to Bookings" button at the top of the browser page. The page will refresh and the check marks will disappear.

When all selected videos have been marked, click on the word "Booking" on the left panel of the browser window.

V. "BOOKING" (ORDERING) AN ITEM
To search items by authors, titles, or subjects, click on the "Browse" selection in the left panel. Proceed with the search. If assistance is needed to complete an item search in the "Browse" mode, click "Help". (Note: Author search is not available at this time.)

To book an item, click on the "Booking" selection in the left panel. Enter your personal patron ID number and password. Proceed to booking your selections. If assistance is needed to complete a booking , click "Help".

Note:
--The maximum VIDEO/DVD checkout time is five (5) working days.
--No internet or telephone reservations for next working day delivery are accepted after 4:00 p.m.
--The Instructional Media Center must be contacted by telephone (567-8138) to order:
