Autism/Behavior Specialist

The Special Education Department at the District Office has a full-time opening for an autism/behavior specialist. The position requires a Utah licence in special education or related field, expertise and experience in the field of Autism, and successful experience providing behavioral consultation and training.

Extensive experience developing/implementing Functional Behavioral Analyses and Behavior Intervention plans is required, as well as extensive understanding of Least Restrictive Behavior Interventions and MANDT procedure. Experience designing, setting up, monitoring and evaluating data collection systems is necessary. Background in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), assessment of basic language and learning skills, functional communication procedures, social skills training, and other methods for supporting student with Autism Spectrum Disorders.

Applicants must demonstrate competence in federal and district compliance procedures, crisis management, behavior management and classroom instruction. The ability to plan, arrange and implement special educaiton in-service training for staff is also required. Teaming and interpersonal communication skills are critical in order to support and serve as a resource for parents, school staff and building administrators.

Part-time Para-Educator Program Instructor

Must be a certified Special Education Teacher with a Master’s in Education.  Preference will be given to candidates with prior special education teaching experience.  Will be responsible for teaching concurrent enrollment para-education curriculum to high school juniors and seniors.  Curriculum will include teaching students about people with disabilities, the roles and responsibilities of para-educators, participation in the IEP process, components of effective instruction, positive behavior support and effective communication skills.  Will be responsible for managing student practicum experiences and for building liaisons with special educators throughout the school district.
