Technology Grant—West Jordan Middle School
(Theresa
Gotay, Principal; Allison Hollaway, Cody Beyrd, Madeline
Keith, Rawlen Rawlins, Robyn Kabwere)
West Jordan
Middle School has been awarded a grant of cash and
equipment from the HP Technology for Teaching Grant
Initiative to support an innovative math and science
program in which students design and build hot air
balloons. Students will perform as if they were in
a business environment as they develop blueprints,
assembly charts, cost analysis spreadsheets, and reports.
This Standards-based curriculum integrates elements
of science, math, English, and technology as students
move through design and production to their final
presentations. This project will help students understand
how academic learning is connected to their future
professional lives.
