A jigsaw can be used any time you have more than one piece of text you’d like to teach, but you are limited by time. Put students in groups, and have each group read a different piece of text. You can have them talk about the most important ideas in their piece of text. Then students create new groups with one member from each old group. The students become experts on the piece of text they read, and they share those who did not read the same piece of text.
