JORDAN HISTORY ACADEMY OF TEACHERS (JHAT), JR.JHAT, Jr. is a rigorous 15-day Professional Development Academy for 4th and 5th grade teachers, sponsored by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The goal of the grant is to improve the teaching of American History in the elementary classrooms.Participants in the 15-day academy will receive in-depth content instruction from top University professors as well as useful pedagogical instruction from a Master Teacher. In addition to the content covered, participants will expland their knowledge of technology in the classroom--looking at wikis, Smart Technology, iPods, and more! Each participant will receive their own iPod Touch for classroom use, and have access to qualified classroom coaches to aid in planning, teaching, technology, etc.The summer following the 15-day Academy experience, participating teachers will engage in a field study--touring and learning at historic sites in Boston and surrounding area on the East coast. The field study is a mandatory part of the JHAT, Jr. experience.More than anything else--JHAT, Jr. is FUN!
