Alg 6.0 Quick Draws
PDF

This form can be used as a warm-up or quiz to help students develop fluency in the attributes of different equations

Alg 6.1 Parallel and Perpendicular      PDF
*Graph      *PDF

Students figure out equations and graphs for lines which are parallel and perpendicular. *Access the graph at left.
Alg 6.2 Detective Work in Linear Equation Forms
PDF
Students use what they know (points, slopes, x and y intercepts, equation forms etc.) to find out what they don’t know (points, slopes, x and y intercepts, equation forms etc.).
Alg 6.3 Art and Linear Equations PDF
This activity uses calculator art to assess student knowledge of linear equations.
Alg 6.4 Chickens and Pigs, Introduction to Systems
PDF
Students use trial and error to figure the solution to the chickens and pigs problem. In the process, they deal with the ideas for writing two equations. From this experience, they create a table and a graph, write two equations into the calculator or computer. They explain the equations and graphs.
Alg 6.5 Systems of Equations and Their Graphs
PDF
Students solve systems of equations problems “Where does the money go,” and “Renting Skates” using graphs. They revisit the Chickens and Pigs problems to study the substitution and elimination strategies for solving systems of equations. They practice solving problems using these methods.
Alg 6.6 Graphing Inequalities
PDF

Four students in a group each analyze an inequality statement. They substitute points (from all four quadrants with x and y values from -3 to +3) into the inequality to evaluate greater than, less than, or equal. After the analysis, students compare results, and examine the patterns in the table they have created. Then they shade in graphs based on the patterns they observed in the four inequalities.

Alg 6.7 Systems of Inequalities and Absolute Value
PDF
In this lesson, students examine different forms of inequality statements, simple and compound inequalities, a two variable inequality, an inequality involving absolute value and systems of inequalities. They examine the equations and the graphs and then practice different examples.
