What’s happening in JSD mathematics?

Jordan School District will implement the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) in grades 6 through 9 in the 2011-2012 school year. Please access CCSS curriculum and instruction materials at the following sites:

The CCSS materials support teachers in guiding student success by addressing the following questions:

1. What do we want students to know and be able to do?
2. How will we know if they know it?
3. What will we do if they don't?
4. What will we do if they do?

We’re addressing these questions in every secondary school and classroom. Here’s how:

• A Year-At-A-Glance curriculum guide to direct access to the core for all students.
• Common student learning targets or "I Can" Statements to be used by teachers, students, and parents to communicate critical content and to monitor student learning and mastery of the core.
• Common Assessment Tasks, Benchmark assessments and a growing collection of Formative Assessments to evaluate and guide student learning and mastery of the core, provide intervention, and inform instructional practice.
