In August 2010, the Utah State Board of Education adopted the Common Core State Standards English/Language Arts (CCSSELA)and Common Core State Standards Mathematics (CCSSM). Information about the philosophy and development of the Common Core State Standards can be found on their website.

Jordan School District elementary teachers will be implementing the CCSS one content area at a time. During the 2011-2012 school year, K-5 teachers will teach the CCSSELA, and 6th grade teachers will teach the CCSSM. During the 2012-2013 school year, K-5 teachers will continue to teach the CCSELA and add the CCSSM. Sixth Grade teachers will continue to teach the CCSSM and add the CCSSELA.

The Student Pathways document illustrates possible student pathways as Jordan tranistions from the Utah Mathematics Core Curriculum to the Common Core State Standards math curriculum.
